The movie, "Transamerica," has just been screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Actress Felicity Huffman (from televisions's "Desperate Housewives") reportedly received an excellent review from the New York Times for her portrayal of Bree, a male to female TS. Bree seeks SRS in "Transamerica."
Apparently, in preparation for the role, Huffman says she started reading about Transgendered women, actually meeting with them, and taking lessons from coaches who train Transgendered individuals in becoming more feminine.
Obviously, I haven't seen the movie, so I "cautiously" applaud the efforts of those involved in their attempt to accurately
depict Bree's plight.
I'm sure Huffman probably handled her role quite well, but I'd have hoped they'd have taken the opportunity to use a REAL Transgendered actress.
