Britain's Funniest Woman (Used to be a Man)

A contest to find Britain’s funniest woman has been won by a comic who used to be a man.

Post Op TS Debra-Jane Appelby took the win at the Funny Women Competition at London’s Comedy Store, beating out 150 hopefuls.

Appelby, a 38-year-old IT contractor from Keighley, West Yorkshire, reportedly doesn't mention her gender reassignment in her act, and the judges, as well as the audience, were not aware of her past.

Appelby HAD informed the organizers and sponsors of the contest - in advance - that she'd changed gender to become a woman (over 10 years ago).

Fortunately, it was never considered as grounds to view her participation in the competition to be different from any other woman.

Appelby has been performing for about two years, and this is her second competition win.
