Book Review and Information
I always am happy to provide information hailing our
"Transgendered Brothers." The plight of Transmen is an important
issue in our community.
The Phallus Palace is reportedly a bold approach to the subject of
female to male TS's. It is said to include personal
testaments from FTM's, as well as contributions from
others regarding this gender-bending subject matter.
The book presents the topic in an historical, medical,
psychological, and cultural context, apparently with captivating
photographs to "guide the reader from the FTM's female personae,
through surgical operations, to portraits of the men, whose self
and public identities are finally revealed as one."
The Phallus Palace was written by Dean Kotula, who has worked as
a documentary photographer for twenty years. Dean underwent SRS
(from female to male) under the scrutinizing eyes of 2,000
predominantly male shipyard workers, while working as a machinist.
The ensuing ordeal is said to have prompted him to create his
book.
